The Creators took a trip put on the mini bus today and went to Fosse Meadows, where the children tried out the assault course and had a picnic snack. They then finished off their walk by going for a walk around the woods.
We had the best Graduation for our Graduates of 2020 last Friday!
This was such a landmark for us as a nursery, as the first children to start our nursery in the baby room and move their way throughout the rooms are finally leaving us to go to big school and to start their new adventure! The nursery will certainly not feel the same without them here making us laugh all day.
This year has been full of ups and downs but we are so pleased that we could provide the best graduation for your children!
Here are some great photos that we got of your children to capture the moment.
We wish you all the best of luck and want to say thank you for choosing us as your child's nursery and letting us look after your little ones. They have brought us so much joy over the past 3 years.
One of the children in the Inventors room has been singing a song about planets everyday for the last few weeks and has been talking about the different planets. So today Melissa and Kim followed the child's interest by providing an activity where the children could make their own planets. They then made a display using the planets that the children had made, dangling from the ceiling! They then listened to a song about planets during their social communication group and all the children got involved and really enjoyed this!
The Inventors went out on a walk yesterday and decided to stop off over at the field. The children really liked collecting sticks, which they then made a camp fire. They then all collected their own individual sticks and some leaves and put them onto the end of their sticks, which they then used to pretend they were toasting marshmallows around the campfire. It was such a lovely morning and they all really enjoyed themselves!
The Creators explored Sapcote further today and went down a new public footpath that they haven't explored before, where they saw some cows and people building houses!
Melissa has set up a new beauty salon for the Inventors in the Imagination Room, which the children are loving exploring and doing each other’s hair and make up! Melissa and myself then visited the hair salon and had some lovely treatments, getting our make up and hair done!
The Inventors have continued with our dinosaur interest this week, furthering their learning experiences: They have been doing dinosaur puzzles, they made their own salt dough and used the dinosaurs to print into the salt dough to make their very own fossils. On Monday we also got the frozen dinosaurs out of the freezer and the children used different tools to chip away at the ice to save the dinosaurs!
Some of the children will be going home covered in flour today, I think we ended up with most of the flour over the children, not in the tuff spot, they got that stuck into the activity! They have loved this tuff spot creation and named it themselves as "Dinosaur Land"
As the children have been showing such a great interest in dinosaurs and animals, we will be extending the children's learning in lots of different ways, there will be photos so you can see how your child is learning through their favourite play at the moment.
As soon as we can and with the mini bus now up and running, we will be visiting the New Walk Museum, where they have lots of dinosaurs (of course this visit will only take place when it is safe to do so).
Before we can go to the New Walk Museum, we are going to go out on the mini bus to find some farm animals and go hunting for natural resources to make animal habitats.
It would be lovely to see any photos of your child out and about or showing us what interests your child has at home, so please add them to your child's tapestry
One of the children showed a huge interest in the book 'Oliver's Fruit Salad' yesterday, he kept asking the staff in the Inventors room to read it to him throughout the day. So Melissa brought in some fruit today so that the children could make their very own fruit salad. They sat in the dining room, read the story and then worked alongside the story, to make their own fruit salad, following 'Oliver's Fruit Salad' recipe.
They carefully chose and cut their own fruit with the child friendly knife, under staff supervision, talking about different health and safety measures and good hygiene practice.
