The Explorers took the children on a nature walk today, to collect leaves, acorns and pinecones!
Following our interest of the week - Cars!
We got the cars out in the flour today, to make marks with the tyre tracks. In the afternoon, we then decided the cars needed a wash, so we got the tuff spot full of water and soap and let the children clean them with the brushes!
The Explorers have done some Autumn artwork today with a twist - We filled bags up with autumn coloured paint and let the children mix the paint around the bag to make their tree painting.
The Adventurers went foraging around Sapcote for leaves, stones and soil. On their return, they were placed alongside; feathers, shaving foam and vegetable soup - to make a sensory walk in the garden room.
On Thursday, Discoverers went on the minibus to Pingles Pet Shop.
On arrival, they saw some guinea pigs outside (a lot bigger than the ones we have at nursery!) There were also some giant rabbits which were very friendly. The Discoverers enjoyed picking dandelions to feed them.
There were also some birds with lots of pretty colours.
Inside the shop they saw some more rabbits and were lucky enough to be able to stroke them. The children were fascinated by the bearded dragon, which even waved to us! They also saw lots of other animals, including hamsters, tarantulas, gekos, snakes and frogs.
Today the Adventurer's climbed Croft Hill, so not technically a mountain but as far as the children were concerned it was!
They could see Stoney Stanton, Sapcote and Leicester, Croft Quarry and the resident cows.
They also met a quarry man who gave them his radio to listen to the countdown before the 'boom' and they felt the vibrations through their feet...amazing!
The Explorers met the Guinea Pigs today!
They got very excited smiling, giggling and clapping their hands!
We then went into the Creators to meet the fish - following our focus interest of this week: Animals!
Our new sign topic is... Routine!
So look around the nursery for our signs of the week :)
The Inventors have enjoyed building with the wooden reels practising balancing and climbing over them and using the guttering to run the cars down racing each other.
Today all the nursery joined in the garden room to say farewell and good luck to Nic as she begins her maternity leave.
The Discoverers made a lovely card and she received some lovely presents from the staff and parents.
She will be missed so much and we can't wait to welcome her back in a years time!
