We have decided to display our story of the fortnight, so that all of you as parents know what we are reading at nursery.
Repeating favourite stories helps to consolidate understanding of the story narrative. Repetition encourages children to predict what's going to happen next, understand the sequence of the book and learn repeated refrains. They may also act out the story and repeat it in their play and it offers out a topic for them to start conversations with their peers or at home with their families.
Each of the rooms will be changing their books every fortnight and they will be chosen based on the interests shown by the children in the rooms.
Please keep an eye out for the display in your child's room, showing you what books we are focusing on that fortnight :)
