During a walk around the village we stopped to watch a Thatcher replacing a house roof. Some of the children recalled that it looked like the Little Pigs houses. Kindly the Thatcher gave us a bale of straw to take back to nursery. We read the Three Little Pigs story and found all the things needed to build the houses. The children worked together in groups to build amazing houses from the straw, sticks and bricks. There was lots of talk and repeated refrains learnt from the story. Once the houses were built the Big Bad Wolf aka Melissa, tried to blow the houses down. The straw and stick house fell but the brick house remained.
During the following days the children used the items in the tuff tray using puppets to re-enact the story.
What great fun we had!
